Piana Surfaces (“Piana Surfaces”, “we”, “us”) supplies porcelain slabs from Concord, Ontario. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What we collect
Website forms. When you use a form on this website, we collect what you enter:
- Free slab estimate: your name, email, phone number, project type, project location, timeline, slabs of interest, whether you want a fabrication quote, notes and the files you upload.
- Request a quote: your name, email, phone number, project details, slabs of interest, whether you want a fabrication quote and whether you are a contractor or fabricator.
- Contact: your name, email, phone number and message.
Facebook and Instagram. If you fill out one of our lead forms on Facebook or Instagram, we receive the information you submit, such as your name, email, phone number, project type and timeline. If you contact us on Instagram or Facebook, we receive your profile name and the messages, photos and files you send us.
Email and phone. If you contact us directly, we receive the information you choose to share.
Technical information. Our website host and the advertising tools described below may collect technical information, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit and the site that referred you.
We do not collect payment information through this website.
How we use it
- To prepare your free slab estimate and quotes.
- To answer your questions and arrange visits to see slabs.
- To follow up with you about your project.
- To keep records of our communications with you.
- To measure and improve our website and advertising.
We use personal information only for these purposes, or as required or permitted by law. We will ask for your consent before using it for any other purpose.
Files you upload for a free slab estimate
Plans, renderings and other files you upload through the free slab estimate form are saved to a private Google Drive folder controlled by Piana Surfaces. The upload is processed by Google services (Google Apps Script, Google Drive and Gmail), which save the files and send us an email notification with a link to them. The folder is not shared publicly.
We keep these files only as long as we need them to prepare your estimate and follow up on your project. We delete them when you ask us to.
Quote and contact forms
Our quote and contact forms are processed by our website host, Netlify, which stores the submissions and makes them available to us.
Facebook and Instagram lead forms and messages
Information you submit through our Facebook or Instagram lead forms, and messages you send us there, are processed by Meta and made available to us. We use this information to contact you about your project, prepare estimates and quotes, and follow up. Meta’s own handling of your information is covered by Meta’s privacy policy.
Cookies and advertising
This website may use the Meta Pixel and similar cookies and technologies. They help us measure how our ads perform and show relevant ads to people on Facebook and Instagram, including people who have visited this website. Through them, Meta may receive information such as your IP address, browser information, the pages you visit and the actions you take on this website, and may combine it with other information Meta holds about you.
You can opt out or limit this:
- Change your ad settings in your Facebook or Instagram account under Meta ad preferences.
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
- Opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies at https://youradchoices.ca.
This website also loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the fonts load.
We do not sell personal information
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers that help us run our business, and only as needed for the purposes above:
- Netlify (website hosting and our quote and contact forms).
- Google (Google Drive, Google Apps Script and Gmail for estimate uploads and email, and Google Fonts).
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram pages, messages, lead forms and advertising).
Fabrication referrals. If you tick “Obtain fabrication quote”, we share your name, email, phone number, project details and, if you sent them, your plans or renderings with an independent third-party fabricator so that it can quote you for fabrication and installation. We share this only when you ask for it, and only for that purpose. The fabricator is a separate business and handles your information under its own privacy practices. You do not need to use a fabricator we recommend to buy our slabs.
We may also disclose personal information with your consent, or where the law requires it.
Storage and processing outside Canada
Our service providers store and process information on servers in the United States, and may do so in other countries. While it is outside Canada, your information is subject to the laws of those countries and may be accessed by their courts, law enforcement and national security authorities.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, including following up on your project and keeping business records, or as long as the law requires. Estimate files are kept only as long as needed to prepare your estimate and follow up, and are deleted on request. When we no longer need information, we delete it.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information. Access is limited to people at Piana Surfaces who need it, our accounts are password protected, the estimate folder is private and this website is served over a secure (HTTPS) connection. No method of sending or storing information is completely secure.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Give you access to the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Stop using your information, by withdrawing your consent, subject to legal or contractual limits.
- Delete your information.
To make a request, email connect@pianasurfaces.com. We may need to confirm your identity first. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
